Front-quarter hits one-week low on higher water reserves
Oct 17 (Reuters) -Nordic front-quarter power prices hovered close to a week low on Thursday after falling for two consecutive sessions on forecasts for higher water reserves in the hydropower-dependent region.
* Nordic front-quarter power contract ENOFBLQc1 rose 0.05 euros to 57.4 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) at 0949 GMT, having earlier hit its lowest level since Oct. 10 at 56.90 euros.
* The Nordic front-year contract ENOFBLYc1 gained 0.15 euros to 39.9 euros per MWh.
* The forecasts for the Nordic area have been rather mild, with temperatures well above average for the remainder of this week and also around or above normal throughout most of next week, Energi Danmark said in a note.
* "We consider largely sideways trading as the most likely scenario today, unless the forecasts change noticeably as the day goes on."
* Nordic water reserves available 15 days ahead PCAEC00 were seen 4.29 terawatt hours (TWh) above normal, compared with 2.8 TWh above normal on Wednesday.
* Germany's Cal'25 TRDEBYc1, Europe's benchmark power contract, was 0.05 euros higher at 87.00 euros per MWh.
* Carbon front-year allowances CFI2Zc1 rose 0.32 euros to 63.35 euros a tonne.
* "Towards the end of the next week, cooler and slightly more active weather is likely," said Georg Muller, a meteorologist at LSEG.
* Dutch and British wholesale prices were mixed on Thursday morning as maintenance curbed supply from Norway but high storage levels weighed on the market. NG/EU
* The Nordic power price for next-day physical delivery FXSYSAL=NPX, or system price, increased about 25% to 11.74 euros per MWh.
