Morgan Stanley will report its third-quarter results. Analysts expect higher profit, helped by a fertile environment for dealmaking.
The Labor Department is expected to report import prices fell 0.4% in September, following a 0.3% decrease in August. Export prices likely declined 0.4% in September, compared with a 0.7% drop in August.
U.S. Bancorp is expected to report a fall in third-quarter profit, as its interest income shrinks due to subdued loan demand and higher deposit costs. Separately, Citizens Financial is scheduled to report a lower third-quarter profit as the bank shells out more to hold onto customers' deposits. Also, Synchrony Financial is set to report its third-quarter results. Analysts expect a rise in profit, helped by net interest income.
Abbott Laboratories is expected to report its third-quarter results. Investor focus will be on the performance of its heart devices and continuous glucose monitors.
Kinder Morgan will announce third-quarter results after markets close, with its net income expected to come in higher than its year-ago income.
Railroad operator CSX Corp is expected to report higher third-quarter revenue and profit.
Statistics Canada is due to report the country's factory sales, which likely fell 1.5% in August, compared with a 1.4% gain in July. Separately, the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation is scheduled to release data on housing starts which likely grew to a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 237,500 units in September from 217,400 units recorded in August.
