On the U.S. economic front, the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis is set to report that the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index probably nudged up 0.1% in August, compared with a 0.2% gain in July. On an annual basis, the PCE price index likely rose 2.3% in August, after rising 2.5% in the prior month. Meanwhile, the August core PCE price index is expected to have increased 0.2%, matching July's gain. Annually, the core PCE price index likely edged up 2.7% in August. Additionally, personal income likely grew 0.4% last month, following a 0.3% gain in July. Consumer spending is expected to have increased 0.3% in August, after posting a 0.5% rise in July. The University of Michigan's final September reading on the overall index of consumer sentiment is expected to come in at 69.3.
The union representing thousands of striking Boeing machinists is due to meet the planemaker and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services to continue contract negotiations.
The U.S. health regulator is set to decide on the use of Sanofi and Regeneron's drug Dupixent for patients with a chronic lung disease commonly known as "smoker's lung".
Statistics Canada is expected to report that the country's economy likely expanded 0.1% in July.
Latin American investors will look out for Brazil's IGP-M inflation index for September. The index is forecast to rise 0.47%, following a 0.29% increase in the month prior. Additionally, the country's unemployment rate likely fell to 6.7% in the three months through August from 6.8% in the previous quarter. Separately, Mexico's statistics agency is due to release trade balance data for the month of August.
