US Cash Crude-Grades rise at Brent/WTI spread widens, crude stocks fall
Oct 2 (Reuters) -US crude grades broadly rose on Wednesday, dealers said, as domestic crude stocks fell and the spread between global benchmark Brent and U.S. crude futures widened, improving transatlantic economics.
The Brent/WTI spread WTCLc1-LCOc1 widened to as much as $4.25 per barrel, marking its largest discount in a month.
A spread wider than around minus $4 per barrel encourages exports of U.S. crude, as traders see an arbitrage opportunity to ship U.S. crudes to Europe.
On the supply side, U.S. crude oil inventories rose last week as refinery utilization rates fell with weakening fuel demand, Energy Information Administration data released on Wednesday showed.
Crude inventories rose by 3.9 million barrels to 417 million barrels in the week ended Sept. 27, the EIA said, compared with analysts' expectations in a Reuters poll for a 1.3 million-barrel draw.
Weighing on values however, U.S. oil refiners are expected to have about 1.19 million barrels per day of capacity offline in the week ending Oct. 4, decreasing available refining capacity by 85,000 bpd, research company IIR Energy said on Wednesday.
Offline capacity is expected to fall to 873,000 bpd in the week ending Oct. 11, IIR added.
* Light Louisiana Sweet WTC-LLS for November delivery was unchanged at a midpoint of a $2.40 premium and was seen bid and offered between a $2.30 and $2.50 a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* Mars Sour WTC-MRS gained 40 cents at a midpoint of a $1 discount and was seen bid and offered between a $1.10 and 90-cent a barrel discount to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* WTI Midland WTC-WTM gained 5 cents at a midpoint of a 65-cent premium and was seen bid and offered between a 55-cent and 75-cent a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* West Texas Sour WTC-WTS gained 10 cents at a midpoint of a 10-cent discount and was seen bid and offered between discount of 20 cents and parity to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* WTI at East Houston WTC-MEH, also known as MEH, traded between a $1.40 and $1.60 a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1
* ICE Brent December futures LCOc1 rose 34 cents to settle at $73.9 a barrel on Wednesday.
* WTI November crude CLc1 futures rose 27 cents to settle at $70.1 a barrel.
* The Brent/WTI spread WTCLc1-LCOc1 widened last to minus $4.17, after hitting a high of minus $4.11 and a low of minus $4.25.
