Forward prices inch up as water levels slip
Oct 9 (Reuters) -Nordic forward power prices edged up on Wednesday, set to break a two-day losing streak, helped by a downtick in water reserves in the hydropower-dependent region.
* Nordic front-quarter power contract ENOFBLQc1 rose 0.15 euros or 0.26% to 56.95 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) at 1055 GMT.
* The Nordic front-year contract ENOFBLYc1 gained 0.4 euros or 1.02% to 39.55 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).
* Nordic water reserves available 15 days ahead PCAEC00 were seen at 7.64 terawatt hours (TWh) above normal, compared with 9.14 TWh above normal on Tuesday.
* Prices are slightly up today as we have the same type of weather forecasts, although a bit drier for next week, said Sigve Ekeland, managing director at Cemon AS.
* "Next week will be generally milder, but weather will remain at least partially unsettled. Amounts will be lower than previously. The south and east could see some drier and sunnier episodes," Georg Muller, a meteorologist at LSEG, said in a note.
* Germany's Cal'25 TRDEBYc1, Europe's benchmark contract, rose 0.15 euros to 84.75 euros per MWh.
* Carbon front-year allowances CFI2Zc1 increased 1.46 euro to 61.75 euros a tonne.
* Meanwhile, Dutch and British wholesale gas prices were little changed on Wednesday morning, trading in a tight range, amid strong storage inventories and mild weather but geopolitical tensions continue to keep the market nervous. NG/EU
* The Nordic power price for next-day physical delivery FXSYSAL=NPX, or system price, fell 12 euros to 27.28 euros per MWh.
