** The Indian government has proposed to sell an up to 6.8% stake in General Insurance Corp of India (GIC) GENA.NS, an exchange filing showed.

** U.S. gene sequencing company Illumina ILMN.O won its court fight against the European Union's investigation of its $7.1 billion purchase of cancer diagnostic test maker Grail GRAL.O, a ruling set to curb Brussels' merger powers.

** California-based investor Clearlake Capital said it would buy pan-European private credit specialist MV Credit from asset manager Natixis Investment Managers, part of a wider push by investors into lending to companies as banks retrench.

** U.S. buyout fund Bain Capital said it made a counter-offer to buy Japanese software developer Fuji Soft 9749.T, estimated at about 600 billion yen ($4.1 billion) that would exceed a rival offer from equity fund KKR.
